The ideas carry forward.
Custom GPTs were a chapter. The learning stays.
I am actively reworking the concepts, workflows, and solutions I built as custom GPTs into modular agent skills and, after testing, plugin packages.
A valuable chapter, and a deliberate next step.
Building custom GPTs taught me a great deal about instructions, knowledge, boundaries, and the difference between an interesting answer and a useful workflow. The prototypes and published demonstrations on this site reflect that learning.
OpenAI has announced the retirement of custom GPTs. I am aware of the change and am working through the portfolio now: preserving the source material, identifying the methods worth carrying forward, and deciding which capabilities belong together.
The platform is changing. The problems these projects explored still matter.
What changes, and what stays.
Build modular skills
Useful methods become focused agent skills with clear inputs, procedures, references, and outputs. Related concepts may combine; broad concepts may become several skills.
Release tested packages
Related skills can be packaged into plugins, with tool connections where needed. Each replacement must be tested and have clear access instructions before it is announced as available.
What you can use today.
The pages here describe the original work. Links to ChatGPT are legacy GPT destinations, subject to OpenAI's retirement schedule, account access, and the creator's settings. They are not links to replacement plugins.
Replatforming is in progress across the portfolio. That does not mean every concept will become a separate plugin, that every replacement is ready, or that a particular release date has been promised. A replacement will be marked available on its own page only when there is a tested release and a way for you to use it.
Concepts that never became a finished GPT can still contribute useful methods. They do not need to become GPTs first.
The platform timeline.
As checked on September 29, 2026, OpenAI's custom GPT retirement and migration FAQ lists December 11, 2026 as the scheduled retirement date. Some Enterprise workspaces have an approved deferral. Follow the notice for your account or workspace for its applicable timeline.
That is OpenAI's platform schedule, not a promised release date for an AskJamie replacement.
